About Ken Engelman

Ken Engelman

Marketing Strategist • Revenue Growth Leader • Author • Founder of Community Volunteers United

Welcome, and thank you for visiting.

I'm Ken Engelman, and I've always believed that when we help others succeed, we all succeed.

For more than 20 years, I've helped businesses, membership organizations, and nonprofits increase revenue, strengthen brands, build strategic partnerships, and better connect with the people they serve. I believe great marketing isn't about selling - it's about understanding people, solving problems, building trust, and creating value.

Whether I'm helping a national company grow, supporting a nonprofit with little or no marketing budget, or encouraging someone to volunteer, my approach is the same: listen first, understand the goal, create a strategy, and help make it happen.

Long before founding Community Volunteers United in 2020, I spent nearly a decade providing pro bono marketing services to local nonprofits. I saw passionate people changing lives with limited resources, and I realized many didn't need more dedication - they needed more visibility, stronger community support, and people willing to share their time and talents.

That experience inspired me to found Community Volunteers United. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of communities by bringing together volunteers, nonprofits, businesses, schools, and community leaders. I believe every person has something valuable to contribute, and when people work together with a common purpose, communities become healthier, stronger, and more connected.

That same belief inspired me to create the Please Be Kind! movement. It began with a simple idea: every interaction matters. A smile, a kind word, a helping hand, or simply treating someone with respect can make a lasting difference. Kindness is contagious, and together, small acts can create meaningful change.

Writing has become another way for me to serve others. Whether writing about nonprofit leadership, motorcycle safety, or the relationship between technology and humanity, my goal is always the same - to educate, motivate, and inspire positive response.

My books include:

  • The Local Nonprofit Marketing & Fundraising Guide
  • ERASED
  • Life Is Moto

Over the years, I've been honored to receive recognition from the Governor of Connecticut, the Connecticut General Assembly, community leaders, and numerous television, radio, newspaper, and online media organizations. While I'm grateful for those honors, what motivates me most is seeing a nonprofit reach more people, a business achieve its goals, a volunteer discover a passion for serving, or a community come together to solve a challenge.

Everything I do is guided by one simple philosophy: Educate. Motivate. Inspire Positive Response.

I believe positive change begins with one person choosing to make a difference. My hope is that something you find here inspires you to volunteer, support a local nonprofit, encourage a neighbor, or simply choose kindness.

Together, we can build stronger organizations, stronger communities, and a better future for everyone.
